Notes - (Research):Willard Gentry - Journal of Gentry Genealogy email: gntry.srch@att.net states the following in an email to me dated 29 Dec. 2002:
"As to which wife of Nicholas was Nancy's mother, Nancy is included in a group of Nicholas' children that sued him for property that presumably was due to them on the death of Elizabeth Stringer. This is in Louisa County Order Book, 1782-83, p.44 and 47, 18 Jul and 12 Aug 1782. The list of children includes David, Milly (wife of William Whitlock), Fanny, Nancy, Sally, Martin, John, and Blackston. This was long after Nicholas had married Sarah Dickens and appears to be a case of the first group of children wanting to protect their rights.
The children of Nicholas and Sarah Dickens on the other hand are included in Adair Co., KY Deed Book B, p.256ff; in which land apparently left to Sarah by Nicholas was sold by her children after her death in 1809. These children included Elizabeth, Henry, Mary, Zachariah, James Richard, Sarah Perrin (a second Sarah), Robert, Benajah, Jane, and Wesley.
The upshot of this, is that you can be confident that Nancy was a daughter of Nicholas and Elizabeth Stringer."
