  • Notes
    • Katerina Sloup was born at Milavce #30, Domazlice, Bohemia. She married George Brantl, who died in 1870 in Bohemia. According to information she gave to the 1900 census takers, she had seven children, four of whom were living. Records have been found for three daughters who were born and died in infancy in 1857, 1858, and 1861 in Bohemia. A daughter, Katerina was born in 1849.

Katarina and her two sons, Joseph and John, immigrated to Cleveland, Ohio, around 1870. Her son, John, married in 1875 and he and his family moved to Tabor, Minnesota in 1880. Joseph, also, settled in Tabor. Katerina probably moved to Tabor with them. In 1900 she lived by herself in Tabor and worked as a laundress.

Katerina is buried in the Old Settler's Cemetery. It was the first known cemetery in the Tabor area. This was the final resting place for many local pioneers & babies in the early 1880’s & 1900’s. All the wooden & iron crosses deteriorated over the years. A deed was found in the courthouse in Crookston, MN transferring the property (three acres) to Holy Trinity Catholic Church back on July 31, 1912 (Bishop Timothy Corbett, Bishop of the Diocese of Crookston, MN). The property was originally owned by Great Northern Railway Co (1886) and purchased by Joseph & Josephine Eidelbes who donated the land to the church.
